Watford FC have agreed payment with a stewarding company who served the club with a winding-up petition. The case is still marked 'active' by online database Caseboard, but the Hornets believe it will soon be removed after resolving the issue with event staffing company Sword Security. The case was filed on Tuesday, June 3, with Sword Security hiring solicitors Clarke Willmott to represent them. Watford are listed as representing themselves in the proceedings, though believe the case will not need to be heard. To wind up a company (Watford FC, in this case), a creditor (Sword Security) must be owed £750 or more. It costs £343 in court fees and £2,600 in administration fees to serve the petition, most of which is refundable if no wind-up case takes place. If successful, the company is placed into compulsory liquidation and creditors are repaid. There appears to be no realistic prospect of that taking place in this case, though.
