Walker, who made 112 consecutive league appearances for Bradford City, was involved in a turnaround off the field. When he signed in January 2024, the Bantams were midway through their fifth straight crack at promotion from League Two, with stories of discontent and disharmony behind the scenes prevalent. However, Walker's arrival coinciding with an immediate upturn in fortunes, City boss Graham Alexander believes, was not a coincidence.

Most importantly, the move allows him to permanently reunite with his family, who he has lived away from for four of the last five years during spells with Kilmarnock and the Bantams.
