Watford Strikers Face Improvement Pressure
Watford's strikers, Luca Kjerrumgaard and Mamadou Doumbia, face improvement pressure from coach Alessio Dionisi. The duo missed chances in Watford's 1-0 win over Crawley Town.
Coach's Verdict
Coach Alessio Dionisi believes the strikers have bright futures but must improve for the here and now. Dionisi said, "We are working every day [to score] in the last 16 metres [18 yards]. But it's not easy because in this team there are two young strikers. The future will be better for both but in this moment our numbers nines have to improve."
Recent Form
Watford's recent form has been poor, with the team losing their last five games. The Hornets need another option in the transfer market, but Dionisi knows it is his job to develop the players he has for now.
Improvement Needed
Kjerrumgaard looked particularly short of confidence, spurning a big chance after just two minutes. Dionisi believes the Dane needs something to go in to give him a boost. He said, "Luca is a good player. He's a good boy, he works every day to improve. Now Luca is missing a goal, he must stay quiet and the goal will arrive."
