Watford's former midfielder Dwomoh has been banned for 11 games for racist abuse of a U21 player. The incident occurred at the club's London Colney training ground during pre-match warm-ups.

What happened?

Dwomoh made discriminatory remarks to a player of Indian heritage, including comments like "brown is not a colour" and "how is your corner shop going?". The Football Association initially sought a 16-game ban but the Appeal Board maintained the 11-game suspension.

Disciplinary details

The ban applies to domestic football and is back-dated to April 9. Dwomoh has also been fined £2,500 and must complete a compulsory face-to-face education programme by August 9, 2026.

Club action

Watford acted swiftly, removing Dwomoh from first-team contention and ordering him to train away from the main group. The club has since confirmed that Dwomoh's contract has been terminated.

As of June 25, 2026, Watford stands 16th in the Championship with 57 points from 46 games, having lost their last five matches. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | League standing | 16th | | Points | 57 | | Recent form | LLLLL | | Next fixture | vs Boreham Wood (away, 2026-07-11) |
