Amin Nabizada is the only Watford winger to have delivered consistently strong performances this season, according to head coach Alessio Dionisi. The 19-year-old, who has scored three goals in seven appearances and signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal last year, has become a bright spot for a side sitting 17th in the Championship with eight points.
Dionisi made his assessment clear ahead of the trip to Bristol City this Friday. "I think of the matches we have played, there is probably only one winger who has always played well and that's Nabizada," he said. The teenager's late goal in the 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City last week further strengthened his case for a starting role.
While Nabizada has impressed, Dionisi is waiting for others in the wide areas to step up. Othmane Maamma had a disappointing pre-season start, while Rocco Vata and Stephy Mavididi are still building their fitness. The head coach stressed the importance of mentality as he looks for more match-defining moments from his attacking options.
Nabizada's new contract, which runs until 2030, secures his future at Vicarage Road after he made his first senior start in August. He is currently the club's top scorer this term, netting in the recent win over Preston and the loss to Stoke.
Watford's form has been mixed, with one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five outings. They face Bristol City at Ashton Gate on 18 September, looking to improve on a run that has seen them score seven and concede nine.
