Former Watford goalkeeper Kevin Miller has died at the age of 57. His passing was confirmed by Wigan Athletic, where he had been working as goalkeeping coach.

Miller joined Watford in 1994 and spent three seasons at Vicarage Road before a £1.5 million move to Crystal Palace in 1997. He played every minute of the 1997-98 Premier League season for Palace, a campaign that ended in relegation, and remained first choice the following year as they finished 14th in the Championship.

His career spanned 738 appearances across the top four divisions of English football. After leaving Palace, he had a three-year spell at Barnsley before returning to Exeter City, the club where he began his professional journey in 1989 and made over 200 appearances, helping them to a fourth-tier title.

He also had playing stints at Birmingham City, Bristol Rovers, Southampton, Torquay United and Bodmin Town. Miller had moved to Wigan Athletic over the summer to reunite with former Exeter manager Gary Caldwell.

Wigan Athletic said in a statement: "Although Kevin's time with Latics was far too short, he quickly became a much-loved and respected member of our first team staff." The club added: "His experience, professionalism and passion for goalkeeping were clear for all to see, while his uplifting personality made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him."
